Coventry Golf Club has an active Environmental Group and, through their endeavours, Coventry Golf Club became the first in England to be awarded the prestigious Golf Environment Organisation eco-label certificate. The GEO is the Internationally recognised body that sets industry standards for responsible environmental and sustainable management of golf facilities and has the support of many of the leading golfing bodies such as the R & A, European Tour, and Ryder Cup.
In addition to enhancing the attractiveness of the course, the group makes efforts to encourage wildlife such as otters, badgers, and a wide and varied range of bird life. The group has also made an impact on cost savings through improved waste management, recycling and solar energy usage.
It is however, a fundamental principle of the group that environmental initiatives are not to the detriment of the golf course or golfers. Indeed members and visitors alike are positively encouraged to take an interest in the environmental well-being of the course and its grounds and to actively participate in events such as bat walks.
